Board member—Lynn Weidner—In addition to her years of service on the Board of Directors of the Classics for Kids foundation, Lynn Weidner has served in leadership roles for many other worthy Charitable and Arts related organizations.
After serving on the Board of Directors of the Miss America Organization for ten years, Lynn became Chairman of that Board and served in that capacity for three years. The Miss America Organization is the world’s largest supplier of scholarships for women. In addition to her role as Chairman, she also served as a trustee of the 501(c)(3) Miss America Scholarship Foundation and on the Board of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen scholarship foundation.
She is also a past member of the Board of Directors of the Las Vegas Philharmonic and the Women’s Philanthropy Board of the Las Vegas Jewish Federation.
Lynn currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Great American Songbook foundation, headquartered in Carmel, Indiana. GASF was founded by singer/musician Michael Feinstein and is dedicated to the preservation of great American music. GASF recently opened the American Songbook museum and music conservation facility for this purpose. GASF also reaches out to young people in high schools throughout the United States. This youth initiative activity culminates in their annual Songbook Youth Academy and competition in Indiana.
For the past 12 years, Lynn has served on the Board of Directors of the Debbie Allen Dance Academy Foundation in Los Angeles, California. The DADA Board raises funds to provide dance education scholarships for children in need. DADA is currently conducting a capital campaign to build a new arts school and performance facility in LA.
Lynn received her Communications degree from Rutgers University and worked at New Jersey Public Broadcasting and later as a Producer and Newscaster at an independent television station in Atlantic City, NJ.
Lynn is a former “Miss New Jersey”, and for six years was the International Tourism Representative for the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism. In that role, she was the official spokesperson for the New Jersey tourism industry and traveled the country and abroad promoting New Jersey tourism as well as explaining the crucial NJ casino legislation on television and radio programs throughout the United States and Canada when it passed in 1976.
For many years, Lynn was a sought after public speaker and MC of numerous charitable, political, pageant related and other events.
Lynn is married to William P. Weidner, currently Chairman and CEO of Global Gaming Asset Management LLC and Weidner Resorts. They live primarily in Las Vegas NV and have three children and four grandchildren.
