Recently students from the Manassas Adventist Preparatory School appeared in a recital. They performed original works composed for them by their teacher Gerson Hortua including a solo for each of them and a quartet with piano. Two of the three students play on instruments the school received from the Classics for Kids Foundation.
Their teacher speaks highly of the quality and sound of the grant instruments. “You can tell that they were made by someone who knew what he was doing, they stay in tune longer and sound better than the instruments that some other students rent from a local store.” MAPS is hoping to build their strings program with an acquisition of more instruments in the near future.
